Emperor’s Garden Restaurant

Seriously, I have been craving this all week long! Picked up my takeaway box of soya chicken rice from #emporersgardenbbq🥢 I have never…. NEVER been so excited to the unboxing of a take-away as I have tonight!

Let me just say, this was hands down the best serve of soy chicken I’ve ever had… Ever! This is why, I’m kinda fussy about my soya chicken. Firstly tonight I was granted my request for breast chicken meat… not always available from the usually militant person behind the counter, kinda like the episode from Seinfeld ‘No soup for you’. To be fair I guess They don’t always like to break up a whole chicken. My serve of soya breast chicken was super tender, with its signature deep flavour of soy! (Compared to others that were like eating cardboard with non existent flavour). The meal was served on a fluffy bed of seasoned rice, asian greens, with the perfect amount of ginger & shallots, all the stars was aligned making it this the perfect serving!

I’m still basking in the glow of this dish… I was in my happy place 😊 I will be dreaming about this all week long. Can you believe I still get this excited about food …. Get a grip Wongy 😆🥢

Soul of Chinatown

Hanging ducks, chickens, pork and sausages in shopfront windows – it’s synonymous with Chinatowns all over the world, and Sydney is no exception. There aren’t many of these shops left in Chinatown these days, but Emperor’s Garden BBQ and Noodles is still going strong, and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It’s run by the Yee family (who also own Emperor’s Garden Restaurant and the Bakery on Dixon Street) and founded by patriarch Stanley Yee OAM. They’re open for takeaway, and we can’t wait to drop in to eat in again. Thank you for letting us take these pics – wait until you see the downstairs kitchen where they roast the meat!
